(KGL), the leading provider of transformative content solutions, unveiled the latest enhancements to its industry-leading Smart Review workflow tool to strengthen the administration, accuracy, speed, and integrity of journal peer review in a single efficient, user-friendly platform. 

Integrating via API with submission systems including Editorial Manager® (EM) and ScholarOne Manuscripts, Smart Review directly accepts articles into a comprehensive peer review workflow, providing at-a-glance oversight across multiple journals with advanced reporting capabilities. The system implements automated checks guided by human supervision, including figure and table labeling and citation, reference format, ethical disclosures, and conflicts of interest between authors and potential reviewers. 

Supplementing long-standing checks such as with iThenticate and other manual and automated checks, additional research integrity checks are now performed via third-party integrations with Clear Skies’ Papermill Alarm and DataSeer’s SnapShot tool. Papermill Alarm, the world’s leading tool for detecting research misconduct across all areas of science, uses AI, LLMs, and network analysis to find signals consistent with organized research fraud. DataSeer’s AI technology helps ensure complete and best-practice data availability, allowing publishers to monitor compliance with funder and institution open data mandates.
