Smart Review^® and Smart Report^® have been introduced to streamline the peer review process and provide advanced performance analytics, while innovations in Smart Proof^® are revolutionizing HTML author proofing.

Smart Review automates a variety of time-consuming tasks that occur at the initiation of the peer review process, such as screening for disclosures, accurate metadata, and manipulated images, identifying qualified reviewers, flagging conflicts of interest, and assessing language to determine the appropriate level of copyediting intervention required.

Smart Report provides complete access to article and chapter data from the production workflow, enabling publishers to generate advanced, custom reports. The configurable and interactive dashboard offers standard and customizable charts and graphs that track the most common elements of production, alongside historical and current data trends to monitor performance.

Smart Proof, the web-based author proofing and correction tool, now supports LaTeX and MathJAX. The automated updating of text changes in Smart Proof means that authors and editors receive revised proofs in less than an hour. The module has received extensive enhancements in the areas of workflows, UX, collaboration, formatting, commenting, references and citations, linking, accessibility, and more.

Existing, core systems within the Smart Suite publishing engine—Smart Edit^®, Smart Track^®, and Smart Compose^®—have also received major updates in the latest release.

Smart Edit, the core language editing system, using NLP for contextual copyediting, has further evolved with Machine Learning (ML), data analysis, enhanced reference and table management, and use of open XML and Word WebApp to significantly improve accuracy and speed. Smart Track, the workflow and file management platform, now offers high-speed workflows with built-in quality management and third-party application integration via APIs. Smart Compose enhances 3B2, InDesign, and LaTeX automation for instant PDF and ePUB generation.
