The Changing Standards Landscape
The 18th annual NISO-BISG Forum, The Changing Standards Landscape, will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025, in conjunction with the ALA Annual Conference in Philadelphia. This year’s program, Accessibility Standards and the Future of Inclusive Publishing, examines how evolving standards are shaping the development, distribution, and discoverability of accessible content.

This panel is the kick-off discussion for the 18th Annual NISO-BISG Changing Standards Landscapes Forum. Geared toward professionals in libraries and publishing, this session brings together experts and advocates to examine the current landscape, highlight persistent barriers to access, and share practical strategies for creating more inclusive content and systems. From accessible formats and metadata standards to inclusive workflows and partnerships, panelists will discuss how meaningful change begins with intentional design and cross-sector collaboration. This conversation is a call to action for all stakeholders to embed accessibility at every stage of the publishing and distribution process and sets the stage for the following presentations and discussions of the Forum. This will be followed by an audience Q&A with the panelists.
